Work and careers in Greece

Who can work in Greece, where to look for jobs, when you need your degree recognised, and how to register as self-employed.

✓ Checked against the sources: October 2026

⚠️ This isn't legal advice. Visa requirements change, so always check the official source or a lawyer.

First: are you allowed to work

EU citizens (including Israelis with an EU passport) can work in Greece without a visa. Without an EU passport you need a residence permit that allows work. The categories and documents for each permit are on the Greek Ministry of Migration's site.

Where to look

  • DYPA: Greece's public employment service.
  • EURES: the EU's job portal.
  • Hebrew is an advantage: search LinkedIn for jobs with "Hebrew".
