The public system (GESY): first steps
- Sort out your residence status. EU citizens register with the Migration Department (MEU1) within four months of arrival. Without an EU passport you need a residence permit.
- Check that you're eligible. EU citizens qualify if they work in Cyprus or hold permanent residence. Non-EU citizens qualify with permanent residence or a right to equal treatment in social insurance.
- Enrol in the GESY beneficiary registry, online or through a personal doctor, and join a personal doctor's list. At the first visit you both sign a mutual acceptance form.
