Renting

  • Most landlords ask for a codice fiscale and proof of income.
  • Every rental contract must be registered with the tax agency within 30 days of signing or of its start date, whichever is earlier. Either the tenant or the landlord can register it. Ask to see the registration receipt.
  • After you move in, register with the town hall at the new address (iscrizione anagrafica). You need it for healthcare and other services.
  • Don't send money before you've seen the flat and have a contract.
