Work and careers in Spain
Who can work in Spain, where to look for jobs, when you need your degree recognised, and how to register as self-employed.
✓ Checked against the sources: October 2026⚠️ This isn't legal advice. Visa requirements change, so always check the official source or a lawyer.
First: are you allowed to work
EU citizens (including Israelis with an EU passport) can work in Spain without a visa. Without an EU passport you need a visa or residence permit that allows work, for example the international teleworking visa if you work remotely. The requirements for each visa are on the Spanish Foreign Ministry's site.
Where to look
- SEPE: Spain's public employment service.
- EURES: the EU's job portal.
- In Barcelona: Barcelona Activa, the city's jobs and business service.
- Hebrew is an advantage: search LinkedIn for jobs with "Hebrew".
